Mardi Gras 2023

Everything you need to know about joining us for the parade!

This information below was provided to the Steampunk Festival by the Mardi Gras Galveston Parade Coordinator

PARKING
We have NO PARKING SPACES for parents or others who are driving to the parade. You will have to bring money and find a spot along the street or elsewhere. See below for MORE PARKING TIPS.

KEEP THIS INFO SAVED
It is the best one stop location for all the questions you will have about parade day AND IT IS THE ONLY SOURCE FOR INFO!

Arrival Time and Being “Parade Ready”

ARRIVAL TIME: 1 hour before parade starts
We do NOT hold parades for missing entries or participants.

Your organization should be “Parade Ready” while in the staging area.
This means they should be in formation, in a group and be lined up prepared to march.

This helps us keep track of who has arrived and who hasn’t and it tells us you are ready to go when we are. We do not wait for leaders to line up their entry once the parade rolls.

If you let members leave to get something to eat or go to the bathroom, they should return 20 minutes before parade start time.

TIP:
Most of the time when a group is not invited back, it is because they didn’t stay Parade Ready in the staging area.

GENERAL MARDI GRAS MAPS

THE STRAND MAP

This maps shows you the entire Strand. You will find two BIG RED Xs on it.
This is where you need to show out! Bring your best performances and best dance moves! This is where the people who really want to experience Mardi Gras are and they are the ones who will appreciate your moves more than anyone!

It is also our festival map. You will see where businesses and restaurants are. You can also see where vendors are. This is good if you stay after the parade and want people to know where to meet.

THE ROUTE MAP
This map shows you where we stage and where the parade route for most of the parades are. This is NOT the route map for Shriner’s Children’s & Sunshine Kids Parade.
